We Help To: By Isobel Maxwell copyright

I was left alone in the dark with no food to spare
I really thought I would die, but then they came with a second chance
Then I knew I would not die
At first it was confusing, they looked strange to me
With dark brown skin,to me they were speaking gibberish
But to them it was normal language
They pulled me away from the soggy ditch in the ground
They brought me kindly to their home
And I was without a frown
They fed me and cared for me, by now I am not scared
As I make my way out of the desert now I realize they help too
They are Aboriginal
